Welsh Pony and Cob Association

The Scottish and North of England Welsh Pony and Cob Breeder’s Association was formed in 1962, covering the whole of Scotland and the Southern boundary being Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Pendock Zenith’s head was introduced onto the front cover of our first Journal in 1978, up until then newsletters had been produced.

In 1982 the Association changed its name to The Scottish and Northern Welsh Pony and Cob Association as it was felt the title did not include all the members with ridden ponies.

1987 was the Silver Jubilee year and a special Silver Jubilee edition of the Journal was produced in 1988 followed in 1989 by the Gold Journal which is successfully sold at home and abroad.

The Association went from strength to strength but because of the large area it covered members found travelling long distances difficult and in the early 90’s other Associations were formed within our area, along with the Scottish Association in 1995, all working towards one thing, and that is promoting our Welsh ponies, cobs and part breds as true native performance animals for all members of the family to enjoy.

• To promote all sections of the stud book
• To further the objects of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society
• To support show classes and sales of the Welsh breed
• To promote legislation to assist in the welfare of horses and ponies generally
• To further interests in the Welsh Breeds through Association competitions, meetings and shows

New Members very welcome.

As members you will receive;

• Four newsletters per year which includes: members ponies/cobs that are for sale, also keeps you up to date with functions/events taking place within the Association
• Gold Journal annually which has Association news, competition results, stud adverts & lists of shows

MEMBERSHIP  -  Renewal due 1st January  ( you don't need to reside in our area to become a member)
